Building a Girl Tribe for Future Success

I have to admit, when I first heard the phrase ‘girl tribe’, I thought it was a load of ___. I’m not a huge fan of team-building or self-help exercises. I tend to be reasonably social, if awkward, in a public setting, but prefer to work in my own space the majority of the time.

Several years ago, I met my best friend Katie, and we connected on several levels. We’re both stay-at-home moms with creative businesses, Southern to the core, and a little bit fiery when we get our danders up. Somehow, we never have a conflict of any kind, we enjoy helping each other with our separate businesses, and we occasionally take time out to be girly.

After a short, but busy summer, we sat down this week to a business breakfast at my house to discuss collaborative projects for the holidays and upcoming event opportunities. As you can see, both of our day planners are nightmares, but that’s the way it is for a small creative business.

Three hours flew by and we had some silly mishaps along the way (I will write more about that on my lifestyle blog, Byrd Song, and cross-post here), but we also made some solid plans.

We also had some inspirational publications close at hand:
Where Women Create and Bella Grace, and I had elements from my current projects close at hand so I could work on illustrations when I wasn’t taking notes.

Katie and I will be working together for some upcoming holiday events and have plans for a women’s wellness day in early 2019. I will post Katie’s links, upcoming events, and other business partners below for now. As individual projects develop, I will post full articles on the blog.
